Notifiable electrical work needs to be notified to the Local Authority Building Control. This notification can be directly with Building Control or via one of the self-certification schemes.
Notifiable jobs include the installation of a new circuit; the replacement of a consumer unit; or any addition or alteration to existing circuits in a special location.
Special Locations
Within a room containing a bath or shower (In the space vertically to a height of 2.25m from the finished floor level, and horizontally from the edge of the bath/shower tray of 0.6m). (There are a few more conditions that cover wet rooms etc., but this is the main requirement). and;
Within a room containing a swimming pool or sauna heater.
